About Robert

Robert Meyer is a sculptor whose work is inspired by the organic forms, textures and patterns found in nature. Drawing from the rhythms of weathered landscapes, flowing water and raw materials, Robert’s sculptures explore the dynamic tension between structure and fluidity. With a background in graphic design and a passion for experimenting with materials, he creates pieces that evoke a sense of balance and connection to the natural world.

Robert’s artistic practice is driven by curiosity and a deep respect for the physicality of his craft. He works across a range of mediums, blending traditional techniques with contemporary approaches to create sculptures that are both grounded and innovative.

Meyer has been juried into prestigious art organizations like the Silvermine Guild of Artists in New Canaan, CT and the Sculptors Guild in New York City. His work is known for its dynamic interplay of balance, gravity and materiality, often described as evocative, tactile and harmonious. Inspired by natural forms and architectural influences, Meyer’s sculptures often incorporate contrasting textures and shapes, inviting viewers to engage with the beauty and complexity of nature while reflecting on the interplay of chaos and order that shapes our environment.

Robert has exhibited his work in galleries and public spaces, earning recognition for his ability to translate nature’s essence into striking, tactile forms. Whether through monumental outdoor pieces or intimate studio creations, his art seeks to inspire a deeper connection to the textures and forms that surround us.

His artistic achievements include residencies at Studio Sem in Pietrasanta, Italy, and commissions for Quinnipiac University. His sculptures have been featured in solo and group exhibitions in New York, Connecticut and beyond, with pieces held in collections like the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester, NY, and various private and institutional collections across the Northeast.

“All of Meyer’s works... set up a dialogue between parts and wholes, masses and volumes, surfaces and their scars. …These are works of graphic purity and tactile richness at the same time. …As much as his work “discovers” affinities to nature, to architecture, to symbol, and to narrative, its most persuasive attribute is its capacity for touch.”

“Meyer’s evocative sculpture is both powerful and poetic. His sensitivity to materials and his dramatic contrast of formal elements are but a few of the visual delights found in his work.”
